Video of Chance the rapper talking about his "crazy" Dumsor encounter in Ghana

Chance The Rapper, an American rapper  may have traveled to Ghana for the first time in January 2022, but he has already experienced one of its hallmarks.

The Grammy-winning rapper revealed that, in January, while hanging out in one of Ghana's well-known bars, he suffered a power outage known as "Dumsor."

Chance made the revelation in an interview with Kojo Manuel during the most recent "Lyrical Wars" events when he was discussing his experience with Accra's nightlife.

I'll tell you a crazy tale. When we first arrived in this city in January, we went to Area Bar, where everyone was having a good time. "When someone cuts the light at a party, you're about to get set up, in Chicago that's a terrible sign," he told Manuel. It was around 2 a.m., the club was just getting going, we were having a great time, and I was feeling great.

Chance claimed that as he was attempting to determine why the light went out, everyone began singing a well-known hymn until the power was restored.

"I was thinking for a second and before I knew it, everybody was chanting Burna Boy’s “Ye”. About 300 people, everybody just kept dancing basically till the power came back on.

"But it was such a moment of solidarity and we do that in Chicago too,” he added.

Chance, who has since been back in the country after his first visit in January added that the whole experience took him back to his home state of Chicago where similar things happen.

“So it was me relating that back to experiences that I had in Chicago and just feeling safe. That was one of the craziest things I have ever seen in my life,” he expressed.
