I’m from the northern part of Ghana a community called bawku which is also a Muslim community.There is a serious conflict going on between two ethnic groups,the mamprusi’s and the kusasi’s.My parents arranged a marriage for me with one of the Muslim leaders in the community and we had four children together,but with me being a lesbian which is also an abomination in my community since it is dominated by Muslims it wasn’t save for me and my partner.
My girlfriend and I met frequently but in private but after some time people started noticing and we were getting a lot of hate and threat from the community and our own family members.
One day I was with my partner and we decided to go get something to eat but on our way we got attacked by some group of people.They started shouting and saying hurtful words that we didn’t deserve to live and started stoning us.I was able to escape but unfortunately for my partner she was stoned to death.I had to flee and leave my four children behind because my parents felt I was a disgrace to the family and even threatened to call the police on me or kill me themselves if they see me anywhere around them.As at now the lives of my children are in danger and I’m really scared that is why I have come here to ask for you help and protection.
